Postdoc recruitment of Zhang lab for wood decomposition mechanisms

A postdoctoral fellowship is available in Zhang’s lab at University of Minnesota
(
https://bbe.umn.edu/directory/department-faculty/jiweizhang).
The research will be focusing on lignocellulose degradation by wood-decaying
fungi, with the goals of decoding the fundamental genetics, as well as mining
and applying the genetic resources harbored in these fungal processes. To
accomplish these purposes, the work will need to integrate approaches of system
biology, fungal genetics and genetic engineering. The postdoctoral fellow will
have the opportunity to collaborate with fantastic scientists at University of
Minnesota, Clark University, JGI (Joint Genome Institute) and PNNL (Pacific
Northwest National Laboratory) to work on Dr. Zhang’s Co-PI U.S.-DOE project,
with the high potential for early publications.

annual salary starting at $50, 000, plus
benefits.

To apply, please submit a cover letter with a summary of
research experiences, full CV and contact information of three referees to Dr.
Jiwei Zhang at
zhan3437@umn.edu. Applicants with all
kinds of diversity backgrounds (gender, religious, age, nationality and physical
capability, etc.) are welcomed!

Required qualification:

– PhD Degree in microbiology, biochemistry,
wood science, mycology, plant pathology, or related discipline;

– Demonstrated
experience in fungal genetics and biology, system biology, functional genomics
in the field of plant biomass and decomposition or related field;

– The
ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team, accountability
for assigned tasks, and excellent organizational skills;

– Excellent oral and
written communications skills.

Preferred qualification:
